Emma

Founder of Hooping Mad, Emma has been obsessed with hooping since summer 2007 while she was writing up her PhD in Immunology.  She has been teaching hoopdance since 2008. After completing her PhD, Emma hung up her lab coat and became a full time hooper.  She now runs regular classes and workshops across the country, mostly focused in the South West and South Wales.

Emma has been an active member of the UK hoop community since she caught the hooping bug in 2007. She attended the first UK hoop gathering (UKHG) in 2009 and has been a regular at UK hoop events ever since.  Emma is an extremely experienced hoop teacher has taught 100s of people to hoop. She now only teaches 3 extremely popular classes every week while she concentrates on developing the Hooping Mad online class programme.  

She has taught at the Manchester Hoop Congress 2010 and UKHG Third Time Lucky 2010. In 2011, she successfully toured the country with her ‘Overcoming Hooper’s Block‘ Workshop Series, taught at the Manchester Hoop Congress, Southern Lights Festival, UKHG, Brighton Flow Fest, Vine Farm retreat and SWhoop 2011.

Emma has performed with a number of groups including The FireWorks Collective (Secret Garden Party 2007-2011, Green Man 2010 and Burning Man 2010 and 2011) and The Travelling Light Circus (Big Chill 2009-2010) as well as solo performances at cabaret, club nights and private functions.  She specialises in fire performance.

Emma currently runs hoop classes in Bedminster and the Bristol Folkhouse in Bristol.  Emma regularly performs with single/multiple glow and fire hoop(s) and runs Hooping Mad Hen parties, children’s parties and youth workshops. She is also the creator and main coordinator of the South West Hoop Conference (SWhoop) and Vine Farm Hoop Retreats.

Emma also runs Bristol’s Weekly Hoop Jam every Wednesday.


Steve


Steve
Steve is our master organiser and administrator extraordinaire! Steve is the main coordinator of all Hooping Mad classes and workshops.  Steve is also an events coordinator for Hooping Mad and works closely with Emma to coordinate the annual South West Hoop Conference (SWhoop).


Tom at Iceni Design


Tom, as well as being pretty ninja with fire staffs, is the man behind the running of the Hooping Mad website. Iceni Design came on board November 2011 and took on a messy and hard to navigate site (sorry Tom :) !). He’s been making the website better every day! If you see something you like on here, it was probably Tom! Check out the Iceni Design website if you are in need of friendly and professional web help!


Zoe


Zoe LED hoopingZoe has been hooping with Hooping Mad since 2008 and has been teaching her own adult dance classes since early 2010.  She is a keen performer and regularly performs burlesque, glow and fire hoop shows under her pseudonym Delilah Di Sgrace.

Zoe taught Hoop Burlesque workshops at SWhoop 2010 and 2011 and also teaches Burlesque at the Bristol Folkhouse.

Zoe currently runs hoop classes in Bishopston, Bristol.

Zoe also runs Hooping Mad hen parties and workshops.


Bags


Bags with Glow hoops

Bags has been involved in circus for 12 years but caught the hooping bug in March 2010. Since then he has taken the hoop world by storm and when not hooping can be found balancing shopping trolleys on his face. He has been teaching Hooping Mad classes since January 2012.

Bags is a professional teacher and performer from the UK who has been formally trained at Circomedia – Europe’s leading centre for contemporary circus and physical theatre. He has won an International Hoopie award for Best Hoop Tutorial of the Year (2011) and was short-listed for Hoop Instructor of the Year and Male Hooper of the Year in 2012. He has also won several Revolvies in both 2011 and 2012.

Bags has taught workshops at Manchester Hoop Congress, UKHG, Brighton Flow Fest and SWhoop.

Bags currently runs hoop classes in St Werburgh’s, Bristol. Bags also runs twin hooping workshops with Emma.


Cat



Cat has been hooping with Hooping Mad since Summer 2009 and has been teaching her own adult dance classes since Sept 2011. 

Cat also runs Hooping Mad hen parties, kids parties and workshops.

Cat currently runs hoop classes Totterdown, Bristol.

Cat was integral in the set up of The Oxford, Totterdown Friday Hoop social


Heather


Heather Hooping
Heather has been hooping with Hooping Mad since January 2010 and has been teaching her own adult dance classes since Jan 2012. 

Heather currently runs hoop classes Windmill Hill, Bristol.

Heather aka The Happy Hoopy Wool Junkie, also makes a range of extremely amazing woollen goods that are well worth checking out.


Kay


Kay Hooping

Kay has been hooping since Christmas 2009 and been attending Hooping Mad classes since January 2011. She has been teaching her own adult dance classes since June 2011 and began teaching for Hooping Mad in Jan 2012. 

Kay regularly performs, both solo and with a number of troupes including The Travelling Light Circus, Chimera Fire Troup and The FireWorks Collective. Her alter-ego Tess La Coil is also a master of hoop burlesque performer! Kay is widely known in the hoop world for her involvement in hooping.org’s Hooping Idol competition.

Kay currently runs hoop classes Easton, Bristol. She also runs Hooping Mad hen parties and youth workshops.


Nick


Nick has only been hooping since September 2010. He was the first Hooping Mad Apprentice, attending multiple classes to fast track his hooping journey. He has become an accomplished hooper fast and gained international recognition, winning the worldwide hooping competition, Hooping Idol 2011, which is run by hooping.org.
Nick is currently on sabbatical while he is travelling.


Hannah


Hannah has been hooping with Hooping Mad since 2008 and has been teaching her own adult dance classes since early 2010. Hannah has recently moved to Swindon and will be running classes there soon!

Hannah also runs youth hoop workshops.
